There is a vintage bicycle ride as part of the Pittsford Classic Car show this year! Period attire and/or bicycles enthusiastically encouraged...not required....all are welcome. Pre 1987 is currently accepted as a general starting point for the vintage cycling era. There are two legs to the ride:
(Meet @ 11:30, Depart 12 noon) The first leg starts at the beginning of the Auburn Trail right around Highland Ave/Village Lane (https://goo.gl/maps/qMVrC8RukNC2) and continues into the heart of the Village of Pittsford. This section is roughly 6 miles long, flat and mostly off pavement save for street crossings. Fatter tires will make this section more comfortable, however smaller road tires are doable, with conservative riding.
Here we will mill about, peruse the car show and rendezvous with additional riders. We then depart at 1pm for a leisurely ride along the historic Erie Canal to the Village of Fairport and back. This leg is approximately 7 miles each way, flat and rideable on most any bicycle. You can also join the ride here if you'd rather pass on the first leg.
Additional information/posts will be shared as we finalize the details. Stay tuned!!!
This is a self-supported ride so you are responsible for your own safety and good judgement. As always, we will abide by the Rules of the Road when interacting with vehicle traffic.
Super cool celebration of bicycle-themed bicycle poster art and all kinds of other interesting vendors etc. http://spokesandink.com/ Submit your own poster design and be part of the show!!
Show on Monroe is also the same day, all kinds of things to do on the Avenue...

Our famous Rochester suffragette, Susan B. Anthony, said about women and bicycling, "I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a wheel…the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood.” Are you interested in pedaling around the city, but have some questions and concerns? Are you new to bicycling and would like some guidance and direction? Do you have ideas for how to encourage and support more women in the urban cycling scene? Come to a meeting of the newly formed “Susan’s Wheels,” a group for untrammeled women who ride or want to ride bikes in the city. We’re interested in creating a safe space for women to ride together around town regardless of skill, speed or riding style. Bring your ideas and your thoughts! Meeting to be held, Thursday MARCH 30, 6:30-8:00. Venue TBA. Meeting led by local author and extraordinaire Julie Brooks. Follow this Facebook link to join and follow updates.
